There's a powerful flow of money, technology, beauty, and human weirdness that pulls on all of us. But you don't have to exhaust yourself paddling against the tide. You can learn to spot The Rip.
In this day and age, so much has been made about the brilliance of those “innovating” or “disrupting” but in you, I’ve always found brilliance in the truest sense of the word. You are a luminary in the way we need most right now. From The Loop, to every report I’ve seen you file, your insight, wisdom and caution has been a true north. So grateful to be able to read your thoughts here! Looking forward to making Rip Current my first read of the day. 🤙
Excellent! So glad you are doing this. And now I'm on Substack because of you! Looking forward to your analysis and recommendations on managing living in the rip.
Congratulations on the launch, and great to hear from you! Looking forward to meaningful coverage of AI et. al! And btw 20 feet? Steer clear of the Landlord! I once got followed by a seven footer...it was no fun at all.
Great to see you on Substack Jacob. The Loop has become a pivotal book in the work my team and I do. A reminder of the fragile nature of the human mind and the intricate realities of the technology we're building. In other words, most people have no idea what they're dealing with. I've also just released an article review of the semiconductor + China-Taiwan tensions and the risks this poses to the global economy (again, most people aren't paying enough attention to this critical risk). I look forward to seeing what more stories you dive into.
Thanks Jacob! I will absolutely talk to them. If there is in fact some way we can collaborate in the future, that would be fantastic. Will DM you some time soon.
I enjoyed watching you on NBC and look forward to seeing what you write. I’ve had other pitches from journalists who have left national news organizations and the ones I’ve paid for are not hitting the mark. It would help to see more of what you write and the approach you take. Your intro leaves a bit of a bitter anti-establishment impression and I get enough of that from the NYT and Washington Post. Good luck!

Thank you Ollie! If I can do anything for you — speak to your team, for instance — I’d be delighted! I so appreciate the kind words.
